SingleMetabolic & Weight

Liraglutide 10mg

A long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist investigated in metabolic research models for appetite regulation, glycemic control, and weight loss.

Get new protocol alerts and research updates

Mechanism

Liraglutide selectively stimulates the GLP-1 receptor, amplifying glucose-mediated insulin secretion, delaying gastric transit, and modulating hypothalamic feeding pathways.

Dosing

Standard laboratory protocols initiate administration at 0.6 mg daily and escalate stepwise at weekly intervals.

Reconstitution

Adding 2.0 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 10 mg lyophilized vial produces a working concentration of 5 mg/mL.

Storage

Store unmixed vials refrigerated or frozen protected from light; once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2–8 °C and utilize within roughly 28 days.

Reconstitution Steps

  1. 1

Clean the rubber stoppers of both the liraglutide vial and bacteriostatic water vial using sterile alcohol wipes.

  2. 2

Draw 2.0 mL of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.

  3. 3

Insert the needle at a slight angle and direct the stream gently down the glass wall rather than directly onto the lyophilized cake.

  4. 4

Gently rotate or swirl the vial until the peptide completely dissolves without shaking.

  5. 5

Mark the preparation date on the vial and transfer it to refrigerated storage at 2–8 °C.

Overview

Liraglutide is a synthetic analogue of mammalian glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), engineered to resist rapid enzymatic degradation via dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). By incorporating a sixteen-carbon fatty-acid side chain, the peptide self-associates and binds reversible circulating albumin, substantially prolonging its operational half-life to roughly 13 hours and enabling reliable once-daily experimental regimens. In preclinical and clinical research contexts, liraglutide serves as a benchmark incretin mimetic for metabolic investigations. It is extensively evaluated for its dual impact on endocrine pancreatic function and central nervous system appetite centers, facilitating standardized study designs exploring nutrient absorption kinetics, caloric intake reduction, and long-term metabolic health.
